Stylianides: A major alliance to address the repercussions of the climate crisis

Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Christos Stylianides announced the establishment of a Civil Protection Academy where volunteers and officials from local authorities and other agencies will attend special seminars and get special training on addressing natural disasters, at a conference of the Association of Greek Regions (ENPE) in Edipsos, Evia concluding on Wednesday.

Stylianides underlined the importance of “collaboration and working together with all the agencies involved” and mostly the participation of civil society in preventing and addressing the repercussions of climate change, and referred to a “major alliance” of all the above that will be based on a three-sided holistic approach: Prevention, preparation-readiness and resilience.

He also pointed out that “all indications show that the Mediterranean is the hot spot of the climate crisis,” and for this reason “the adoption of policies that will limit its repercussions and support the adaptation to the new climate reality is necessary”.
