Sudden storm hits Corfu – Houses and streets flooded

A sudden storm that hit Corfu on Friday morning resulted in flooded houses and streets full of mud in the southern part of the island, the local fire department said.

Firefighters were called in to rescue a driver from his car which was swept away by torrential rain and an elderly man from his flooded house. The villages most affected are Mesogi and Moraitika where the fire department had to pump water from several houses and remove broken branches from the streets.
