The Supreme Court of Greece revoked a decision releasing former Golden Dawn member Giorgos Patelis from jail while awaiting his appeal trial, and sent it back for review, it was announced on Wednesday.
Patelis, head of the Nikea branch of the criminal organization Golden Dawn, was sentenced to 10 years and 2 months for participating in a criminal organization and for complicity in the murder of rapper Pavlos Fyssas. He had been released by a suspension appeals court after citing serious health issues of his child.
Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court Charalambos Moissidis was ordered by prosecutor Vassilis Pliotas to review the release decision and whether it may be rescinded. One of the Supreme Court’s criminal divisions will rule whether Patelis needs to return to jail and await his sentence’s appeal trial there.
