Supreme Court to examine SYRIZA MEP’s acid attack case next week

The Supreme Court will discuss on Tuesday (Oct. 10) an appeal submitted by SYRIZA MEP and former unionist Konstantina Kuneva against an appeals court ruling which cleared the company she used to work for as a cleaner from any responsibility for an acid attack against her. Kuneva, a Bulgarian-born cleaner and trade unionist, was assaulted with acid in 2008, because of her work organizing cleaners and domestic workers, according to the MEP.

A first instance court had examined the acid attack as a “workplace accident” and convicted the contractor she was working for to pay damages. The attackers were never identified.
