Supreme Court to re-examine case of Malta extradition request

The Greek Supreme Court will re-examine two Maltese extradition requests of former bank employee Maria Efimova, a Russian whistleblower who worked with assassinated Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galicia, following an appeal lodged by head of appeals prosecutor Antonis Liogas.

Liogas appealed Wednesday’s decision by the Appeals Council which turned down the extradition on grounds that the official papers were irregularly dated and the offences listed were too minor to justify the issue of an arrest warrant. It also ordered that Efimova be released.
