Syrian refugee injured by rock thrown into Souda camp on Chios

A Syrian refugee at the Souda camp on the island of Chios was seriously injured on Friday, when a stone thrown down from the walls surrounding the camp hit him on the head. The incident follows two days of violent incidents at the camp, where resident set fires and caused extensive damage to the facilities.

The man was given first aid by “Doctors of the World” aid workers then rushed to Chios hospital, where he was admitted and is now proclaimed out of danger.

In incidents on Thursday, fire bombs and fire crackers were thrown into the camp from the same side, while far-right groups armed with crowbars were reported to be roaming the area.
