SYRIZA: Labour min needs to answer over ‘suspect’ voucher programme

Main opposition SYRIZA renewed its attack on Labour and Social Affairs Minister Yiannis Vroutsis in an announcement on Sunday, saying that he “has been caught putting the public sector out of pocket, giving 85 million euros to his aides, cronies and friends of New Democracy and [Prime Minister Kyriakos] Mitsotakis is keeping him on in his position, as if nothing whatsoever has happened.”

The announcement put several questions to Vroutsis concerning the later scrapped voucher programme for vocational education training of freelance professionals through online platforms, hinting broadly that this was a scandal set up to benefit ruling party cronies and partisans that had also involved Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the premier’s office, while calling on Vroutsis to resign.
