SYRIZA maxing handouts ahead of elections and its collapse, ND’s Kikilias says

Main opposition New Democracy (ND) shadow defence minister Vassilis Kikilias on Wednesday dubbed Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos “a Pinocchio” and pointed to the minister’s past statement that he would resign if the individual tax allowance fell below 9,000 euros a year. In statements to private SKAI television, Kikilias accused Tsakalotos of “shamelessly wagging his finger at parliament” after having pulled out all the stops “ahead of elections and SYRIZA’s imminent collapse” and giving as many handouts as possible to collect a few extra votes for SYRIZA.

Referring to the amendments tabled on Wednesday in parliament, Kikilias said that his party will examine and vote for whatever may alleviate the burden on the citizens.

About the scandals, he noted that according to European agencies there has been a squandering of public money in Greece in specific sectors, adding that “one of these sectors is migration-refugee management”.
