SYRIZA MPs request earlier payment of social benefit during budget briefing

Lawmakers of the main governing coalition party SYRIZA reportedly asked Alternate Finance Minister George Chouliarakis that the so-called social benefit distributed to vulnerable groups be paid in November rather than at the end of the year, during a briefing on the government’s draft budget on Thursday.

According to information, the MPs also asked that the benefit be given to more social groups, such as families threatened by poverty, single-parent and large families, or families where both parents are unemployed.

They reportedly also requested that the 300 million euros earmarked in the budget for the protection of economically vulnerable groups to become an annual benefit.
