SYRIZA: Regardless of changes at health ministry, the prime minister has failed

The prime minister has failed, “however many on the front benchers he gets rid of,” main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance said in an announcement on Saturday, commenting on the changes at the health ministry.

After lauding the “successful” management of the pandemic at regular two-monthly intervals, the announcement said, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis got rid of all those that handled the pandemic crisis with the current disastrous results within a month and a half, following up the changes in the health minister with “the head of the double books for the records and the shambles of the National Public Health Organisation,” it said.

“The only thing they leave behind is the pandemic out of control, with [Greece] ranking third for deaths per 100,000 EU citizens for a month, undermined trust in scientists who are about to take their turn as scapegoats, the resounding failure of the vaccination programme and a deeply divided society,” the announcement concluded.
