SYRIZA: Reshuffle turning into historic fiasco of world-class dimensions

In a follow-up statement on the government reshuffle after Evangelos Apostolakis announced that he was turning down the ministry offered to him as part of a cabinet reshuffle, main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance on Tuesday described the reshuffle as a “historic fiasco of world-class dimensions”.

Referring to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, he said, “In the end he is left with the far-rightists that he made ministers and the responsibilities that still burden him for the failure of the ‘efficient’ state.”

“As it turns out, from Mr. Apostolakis’ statement, [PM Mitsotakis] tried to trap him, announcing his appointment as minister without his consent,” the announcement said. “He probably realised that …there are honourable people in public life, who consider their dignity more important than offices,” it added.
