Syriza submits constitutional revision proposals to Parliament

Syriza, ruling coalition party with ANEL, tabled in Parliament its final proposals for a constitutional revision late on Friday.

These include steps towards a separation of Church and State, an electoral system based on proportional representation, changes in the legislation regarding the criminal lability of ministers, introducing the possibility that the head of state may also be elected directly by the people, and protection of social rights (such as keeping public utilities like water and electricity under state control and entrusting social partners with setting and adjusting minimum wage levels).
