SYRIZA: The labour bill is taking us back to the worst days of bankruptcy

“The New Democracy government, with the labour bill, is taking us back to the worst days of bankruptcy,” SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance spokesperson Nassos Iliopoulos said on Thursday on “Sto Kokkino 105.5 FM” radio.

“We do not think that in the economy, one can press ‘pause’ and then have everything start up from where it left off,” he said, and cited the proposal made by SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance for addressing the economic repercussions of the pandemic.

He stressed that “immediate and concrete measures are needed, which will support both employees and small and very small companies,” while adding that if these measures do not exist, “we will have thousands of companies closing down, a new wave of unemployment and a deep recession.”

He also said that “the private debt created during the pandemic needs to be settled, the debt to the state, precisely because if a company closes, the state will not receive anything at the end of the day.”
