SYRIZA: The situation in Thessaloniki’s hospitals is tragic

SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance said on Monday that the situation in the hospitals of Thessaloniki is “dramatic”.

“All beds in clinics and ICUs are full. A large number of people working in hospitals is sick. There is a danger that we will get to the point where doctors will choose who will enter the ICU and who will die,” it said in a statement.

“People are transferred to private ICUs at double the cost since EOPYY pays 1,600 euros per day instead of 800 euros. They transfer nursing and medical staff from the health centres to COVID hospitals. Instead of hiring staff, they are destroying the primary health care. They turn hospitals into Covid hospitals forcing patients to go to private clinics and pay for the cost,” it added.
