“No resignation or change of persons will be able to exonerate Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis from his own responsibility for what has happened” said SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance spokesperson Nassos Iliopoulos in an interview with MEGA TV on Thursday.
“Our thoughts continue to be with the people that are giving the battle against the blaze. The battle has not finished and the fire period is not over yet”, Iliopoulos pointed out adding that “Last year, in this period, 8 people died in floods that took place in fire-stricken areas on Evia island”.
“The responsibility for what has happened has a name and is Kyriakos Mitsotakis”.
Asked why his party does not ask for Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chryssohoidis resignation, he said that you can’t ask from a strawman to resign. “The last time we saw Mr. Chryssohoidis was after the fire in Varybobi”.
What we experienced was the collapse of the executive state, he said underlining that “if Mr. Mitsotakis feels satisfied with his ministers and deputy ministers that congratulate each other in the midst of the disaster, is his own problem. No resignation will save him from his own responsibility. Nothing will be forgotten”.
