“The government has capitulated to the daily tragedy that we are experiencing with the pandemic,” stated main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance spokesperson Nassos Iliopoulos, speaking to Alpha 96.5 Thessaloniki on Tuesday.
“At this moment Greece has twice the European average in daily deaths per million citizens….we are now speaking of a crime,” Iliopoulos claimed.
Commenting on the 116 deaths from Covid-19 recorded on Monday, he once again demanded that the government reveal how many of the patients dying each day were not in an ICU.
Iliopoulos, in an interview with TV Star of Central Greece on Monday, had accused the government of “lacking a plan for the things that need to be done immediately” and reiterated that the immediate requisitioning of private clinics was essential, as well as the hiring of additional staff in the national health system. He also called for a return to remote working wherever possible and called for “real mass testing”.
