SYRIZA’s Iliopoulos: ‘We are not done with the extreme right in society’

“Golden Dawn’s condemnation as criminal organisation is a huge victory for democracy,” underlined the spokesperson for main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, Nassos Iliopoulos, speaking to MEGA TV on Wednesday.
Iliopoulos noted, however, that Greece “was not done” with the extreme right and Golden Dawn in society.
He also pointed out that, under the new penal code, Pavlos Fyssas’ murderer will remain in jail for longer than he would under the former penal code, adding that “the government’s lies that the penal code voted in by SYRIZA was favourable for Golden Dawn are collapsing”.
On the primary residence issue, Iliopoulos said that the holding of auctions of debtors’ primary residences proved that the things asserted by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Thessaloniki, about an alleged understanding with banks to avoid auctions, “were untrue”.
