alks on the FYROM name issue that began on Thursday morning (local time, 5:30 p.m. Athens time) at the United Nations headquarters will continue this afternoon, following the established schedule.
Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias and his FYROM counterpart Nikola Dimitrov are meeting at the UN headquarters in New York City for talks with UN special envoy Matthew Nimetz.
The two delegations are expected to briefly break for a working lunch before continuing into the afternoon.
In statements prior to the start of the talks, Kotzias had explained that the negotiation is divided into two sections. The first and main part concerns purely political issues and includes discussions between foreign ministers under the auspices of UN envoy Nimetz. The second part relates to the text of the general agreement and also to the list of individual legal issues arising in the context of the diplomatic settlement. These separate technical details will be discussed in a parallel round of negotiations, he said, conducted at a more technocratic level.
