The American Consulate General in Thessaloniki Elizabeth K. Lee visited today Pfizers’ Hub in Thessaloniki. Nico Gariboldi, Site Leader Pfizers’ Global Digital and Technology HUB in Thessaloniki welcomed her to the premises and guided her through the building.
The US Consulate is closely monitoring US investments in Thessaloniki and it has repeatedly expressed its satisfaction for this particular investment, which promotes innovation in the critical health sector, opening up promising prospects.
Based in Thessaloniki, Greece, part of the Pfizer Digital global network, the Pfizer Digital & Technology hub will be closely linked to the external ecosystem. Pfizer will create a network ecosystem involving partners and local communities to support service delivery and project execution. The Hub will develop transformative digital solutions driving innovative breakthroughs that change patients’ lives.
Pfizer chose Thessaloniki for locating the hub because of the country’s stable political environment and solid economic prospects, the favorable innovation, academic, research and start-up ecosystem, the high level of talent and quality workforce and the potential of acting as a gateway to SE Europe.
After the visit, Elizabeth K. Lee stated: “Thank you for the opportunity to visit Pfizer’s Digital Hub in Thessaloniki and learn more about your work in research and innovation, capitalizing technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data analytics for the development of new treatments. We are proud to see such investments by U.S. companies taking place in Thessaloniki, a vibrant student city, giving the opportunity to young scientists build their careers.”
Nico Gariboldi stated: “As part of Pfizer Digital’s operating model, we have identified opportunities to deliver innovation and expand our talent across various disciplines and we have established Digital “lighthouses”, otherwise known as hubs, across various locations that take advantage of the environment, existing talent, and align well with other Pfizer activities and disciplines to optimize collaboration. Aligned with this vision, we have established a Digital lighthouse in Thessaloniki. Thessaloniki is a great city with great prospects and we are very pleased to be able to contribute to this potential.”
