Government spokesman Stelios Petsas referred to the government priorities in an interview with public broadcaster ERT on Tuesday.
“We are promoting the government’s reform plan because this is the only way we can turn a page. We presented our reform plan to Mr [Klaus] Regling, where the tax bill, which combines a series of cuts that give a boost to the economy, is the main priority,” said Petsas.
He pointed out that in 2020 the government will raise the issue to reduce primary surpluses to more realistic levels and noted that the primary surplus target for 2019 will be achieved and that there is no fiscal gap as borrowers claim.
Asked whether the Prime Minister in a telephone conversation with [Recep Tayyip] Erdogan promised the return of the 8 Turkish officers, he replied: “There is no such commitment by Kyriakos Mitsotakis, I have not heard it before.”
On the Greek-Turkish relations, he said that the good climate between Greece and Turkey is feasible and referred to the meeting on the migration issue, during which they discussed the policies that the government will implement to decongest the Greek islands.
