The importance of re-branding tourist destinations

The re-branding of a tourist destination is as important as branding, Maria Syllopoulou, responsible for the conference “{Re}Branding Destinations: Image making”, said to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency’s radio station Paktorio 104.9 FM.

Syllopoulou stressed the importance of image making in order for a destination to become attractive. This is the also the topic organised by TIF-HELEXPO, within the framework of the parallel events of the international tourism exhibition “PHILOXENIA” and “HOTELIA” professional equipment exhibition.

We chose that topic for this year’s conference because our country is at a time that it needs to redefine its touristic identity, she added.

Every destination is unique and has its own identity that can be promotoed by creating its own brand, she stated. “However this does not mean that we should not make changes, update and be afraid of making the image that we will showcase from the scratch,” she added.
