The next months are critical, Interior Minister Skourletis tells ANA

“The next months are critical because we will discuss with the European institutions the roadmap for exiting the memoranda,” Interior Minister Panos Skourletis said on Monday in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA).

“We are talking about a new situation, with more degrees of freedom,” he estimated.

Skourletis expressed opposition to a precautionary credit line for Greece, saying that the government must develop its own policy mix and be responsible for its own growth plan.

Regarding the macroeconomic figures, he said that these have improved but citizens need to feel this improvement in their everyday lives.

On the two Greek soldiers detained in Turkey, he said that there was an escalation of provocation on Turkey’s part.

He underlined that the Greek side “needs even more calmness and determination, making use of all the diplomatic means that we have and ultimately letting Turkey live with its contradictions on the multiple fronts – domestic and foreign – that it has currently opened.”
