Thessaloniki Port posts record number in container traffic for 2017

Thessaloniki Port (OLTH) announced on Tuesday a 10-year record in container traffic for 2017, with more than 400.000 ΤEUs processed in the port, the company said in a press release.

OLTH said the company achieved its second best performance of the last 20 years while registering a significant increase in traffic compared to 2016.

“OLTH, continuing its close cooperation with shipping agents, customs officers and stakeholders of the port community, constantly seeks to strengthen the port’s position in the region’s port market,” the company’s CEO Dimitris Makris said.

Along with the company’s Chairman, Konstantinos Mellios, Makris congratulated the executives and employees of OLTH, noting the record was achieved in spite of the negative effects from the cancellation of the night shift at Gate 16, where containers and international trade are handled.
