Thirty-four journalists from EU states will visit Athens, in order to be briefed on the refugee-migration problem

Thirty-four journalists from EU states will visit Athens on October 24-25, on the initiative of the European Commission Representation in Greece, in order to be briefed on the refugee-migration problem the country is facing.

“The issue itself is important but it is also important for the image of our country to the foreign press and this is why this needs to be done in Greece which is in the first line of this European issue,” the head of the EU delegation in Greece Panos Karvounis said.

European journalists will meet with government representatives and European organisations responsible for managing the refugee crisis, the European Commission Delegation said.

“The main objective of the European Commission Representation in Greece is to operate as a channel of continuous and credible information and communication between the country and the institutions or EU Member States. This is the reason for the visit of 34 prominent European journalists from all Member States. The visit includes a series of high level meetings with government representatives and the European institutions involved in the management of the refugee crisis in Greece,” Karvounis stressed.
