Three individuals detained by police during incidents at a protest against electronic auctions in central Athens were formally arrested later on Wednesday. The three had been detained during clashes between police and protestors outside a notary’s office on Themistokleous Street on Wednesday afternoon.
Members of the Popular Unity (LAE) party later organised a protest against the arrests outside the general police headquarters.
According to a police announcement, the Attica Security police are currently drawing up charges in connection with the incidents, in which four police officers and one civilian were injured. An investigation was underway to identify other people taking part, in addition to the three Greek nationals arrested, the announcement said.
