Three metro stations to remain open for the homeless

Three metro stations in Athens will remain open during the night and until Friday, January 13, to protect the homeless from the freezing temperatures expected in the coming days, the ministry of infrastructure said on Tuesday.

Greece has been gripped by a cold spell since last week with snowfall continuing in many parts of the country, including Athens’ northern suburbs. Omonia, Monastiraki and Metaxourgio will welcome vulnerable citizens.

A new ministry decision is expected next week depending on the weather conditions of the time.
