“Today is a day of patriotic responsibility that defines our moves on the handling of a major national issue,” Alternate Citizen Protection Minister Nikos Toskas said to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency on Monday.
In reply to those that accused him of downgrading the number of people gathered on Sunday’ rally, he said that “the numbers were totally real and were given from the police that made the calculations according to official topographic maps”.
He said that according to police the number of participants reached 140,000. Moreover, a total of 283 buses arrived from other parts of the country and were parked in specific area that was guarded by police officers.
“Some are trying to distort the picture, but these kind of confrontations do not assist in this great moment for our country”, said Toskas.
