Trikala: Landslides reported due to tremor in Thessaly

An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale shook Trikala and Karditsa in western Thessaly, central Greece, on Friday.

The tremor struck at 10:12 in the morning, triggering landslides on several rural roads.

The earthquake seemed particularly strong near Plastira Lake, inhabitants of the area said to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA).

“The earthquake activity in the Pindos region is normal and does not generate concern,” Thanassis Ganas, seismologist of the National Observatory of Athens said to the ANA.
