Tripartite meeting discusses evacuation options for the disabled during earthquakes

A meeting among government, university, and European officials was held on Tuesday to discuss how to help the evacuation of disabled individuals from buildings during emergencies.

The National Polytechnic (NP), the general secretariat for Civil Protection, and the European Center of Forest Fires (Council of Europe) organized the one-day conference.

NP professor and the director of the European Center Miltiadis Statheropoulos presented a guide on how to help evacuate disabled people from crucial infrastructure buildings in cases of earthquake or fire. His guide provided the impetus for the meeting.
