Tsipras accuses gov’t of responsibility for pandemic deaths due to ‘inertia and incompetence’

The government is “inert and incompetent” and leads to hundreds of deaths, SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis Tsipras told TRT TV during a tour of Thessaly, central Greece, on Wednesday.

“The government’s inertia and incompetence is leading us to hundreds of deaths and to a lockdown that would be catastrophic,” which would be avoided if “it were not afraid to clash” with interests where necessary, Tsipras said.

Greece is registering negative records since May, the main opposition leader noted, and is “in the worst position in West Europe in terms of deaths,” which shows that “Greece is much higher up in terms of deaths and infections than Austria, and much higher than the average EU rate.”
