Tsipras: Current geopolitical developments have presented Greece with significant regional and global reshuffles

Current geopolitical developments have presented Greece with significant regional and global reshuffles, said the leader of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance Alexis Tsipras on Wednesday, speaking at the online 31st annual Greek Economic Summit of the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce.

The main opposition party leader said that refocusing on multilateral diplomacy and on a dialogue towards the strengthening of transatlantic relations, are both key to establishing fairer relations among nations on the basis of International Law. In this context, Greece must ensure it can continue to “defend its sovereign rights against Turkey’s escalating threats,” he added.

With 37 billion euros in state coffers and with EU’s support funds, the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis is now equipped with “more resources than any recent Greek government” in dealing with both the unfolding pandemic and the economic fallout attached to it, said Syriza’s leader.
