Tsipras: Government’s economic policies ‘have plunged most Greeks into insecurity,’

SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance party leader Alexis Tsipras slammed the government’s economic policy while addressing parliament on Monday.

Speaking about price hikes in general goods and in energy costs for consumers after the main opposition party tabled an official question on the matter, Tsipras said that people are angered about the government, as their lives are getting harder to manage financially.

New Democracy was elected on promises of making people’s lives easier after successive memoranda. “Instead,” underlined Tsipras, “you have managed to plunge the vast majority of the Greek people into insecurity, when there are no oppressive pressures, without the troika and the memoranda.” Insecurity about life, work, health coverage, education and even daily life overall, he noted.
