Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has complete confidence in Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos but does not trust that the Eurogroup can provide a positive solution for Greece, government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos said on Tuesday, speaking to radio station “Radiofono 24/7”.
The spokesman said Tsipras doubted whether a group in which German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble participates can reach a good solution for the country.
Tzanakopoulos was responding to comments made by Schaeuble earlier today, when he stated that Tsipras doesn’t seem to trust his finance minister to achieve a good result, which his Greek counterpart doesn’t deserve.
He then expressed hope that this assessment will be refuted at the next Eurogroup and reiterated that the government has implemented all that it ought to have implemented in reforms and prior actions and now it is the creditors’ turn to do their part.
“The government will do everything possible to achieve the best possible solution on June 15th,” he added.
