Tsipras: The solution to the migration problem needs a different policy that Europe unfortunately does not have at present

“When three-year-old children wash up dead, what is washed up is European culture. We must collectively assume the responsibility as a European family and not think that because [the problem] is in our neighbourhood, it should be solved by those that have it inside their back yard,” former Greek premier and SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras said in an interview with Euronews on Tuesday.

The solution to the migration problem was not to treat refugees like trash but integrate theim in European societies, he added.

“This needs funds, the reinforcement of infrastructure, it needs a different policy that Europe unfortunately does not have at present,” he said.
