Turkish courts reject petition to release two Greek soldiers, awaiting formal charges

A first-instance district court in Edirne rejected a petition for the release of two Greek servicemen held for trespassing into Turkish territory, referring the case to the second-instance district court that had ordered their detention.

The two army officers were arrested on March 2 and have been held since in jail at Edirne. The petition for their release was filed in Turkey by their lawyers.

The second-instance court, on its side, rejected the injunction said that the two will be held until the charges are formally filed and a trial date is set.
