Turkish air force pilots infringed on the Athens Flight Information Region (FIR) without submitting flight plans on Wednesday, flying over the Anthropofagi islets that belong to the Fourni cluster of islands in the East Aegean.
The Hellenic National Defense Staff said that two F-4s and two F-16s entered the Athens FIR at 15:02. At 15:04, the pair of F-4s flew over Anthropofagi at 10,000 feet and were followed at 15:05 by the pair of F-16s at 24,000 feet.
The Turkish airplanes were identified and intercepted by Greek fighter planes. The F-4s and F-16s exited the Athens FIR at 15:28 and 15:31, respectively.
