Two Albanian nationals, both aged 20, were released conditionally on Wednesday by a magistrate at Rethymno, Crete, after testifying on charges of raping a Finnish woman, 23.
The woman was admitted to the Rethymno hospital on Sunday morning. Doctors notified the police, which in turn notified the Port Authority, which took her testimony and initiated a search for the two men.
According to the case file, the young woman was dragged to the commercial section of the port at Rethymno on Saturday night and was kept there by force from about 1:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. on Sunday. One of the two men raped her and the other videotaped the incident on his cell phone.
The rapist called the woman and asked to see her again, which led to his arrest and to that of his friend by the Port Authority, which is responsible for the area.
The young woman is returning to Finland pending a court case.
