Two Czech nationals were sentenced to 18 months each for simple spying at misdemeanour level, at the appeals court of North Aegean that convened on Monday in the main Lesvos island town, Mytilini.
The two men were arrested in September 2012 after taking photographs of military installations on the NE Aegean island of Limnos. The court had initially sentenced them to 2.5 years each.
Both denied the charges and said that they were programmers in the Bohemia Interactive company and were creating a military simulation game named “Arma 3” taking place on Limnos. They travelled to the island, they said, to confirm the factual accuracy of the award-winning game they had created.
