Two fires in Corfu now in recession, says fire brigade

Two wildfires that broke out on Monday afternoon in Corfu were brought under control, the fire brigade said. The first fire started at the area of Kanalia, a suburb of the city of Corfu, and the second in a forested area in Lakones, in the north.

“The firemen fought against the flames as well as the strong winds blowing today and managed to bring the fire under control,” the head of the fire department in the Ionian Islands Efthimis Georgakopoulos told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA).
