Two pairs of Turkish fighter jets violated Athens’ FIR

The Hellenic National Defence General Staff said on Monday two pairs of Turkish fighter jets entered Athens’ FIR in the afternoon without submitting a flight plan.

The first pair of aircraft entered at 15:07 over Chios with Greek authorities recording one violation of air traffic rules. One minute later, the two aircraft flew over the islet of Panagia, part of the Oinouses complex, at 8,800 feet. It exited Athens’ FIR at 15:09.

At 15:08, a second pair of Turkish fighter jets entered Athens; FIR north of Lemnos without submitting a flight plan and registering one violation of air traffic rules. A minute later, they flew over the islet of Zourafa, east of Samothrace, at 1,500 feet. The two fighter jets exited Athens’ FIR at 15:14.

All four fighter jets were identified and intercepted by Greek aircraft.
