Four undocumented migrants were killed late Tuesday in a car accident on the old national road Kavala-Thessaloniki.
The driver of the car did not stop at a police signal, but sped up and a pursuit followed. In an attempt to escape, the car driver tried to hide in a dirt road and, according to police, he did miscalculated the length of the road and fell off a cliff.
Riding in the car, which belonged to a Pakistani national living in Athens, were nine persons: eight migrants that had illegally entered Greece and the trafficker (the car driver), who had received temporary asylum in Greece.
Four of the passengers were killed and another has been hospitalised in critical condition. The rest of the passengers are suffering from lighter injuries.
