VAT tax suspension on islands an ND proposal the gov’t rejected thrice, main opposition says

New Democracy commented on the suspension of VAT hikes on five Aegean islands, announced by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Friday, that the measure had been rejected by the government three times in a row when ND had proposed it.

“This day provided grand testimony that when the government adopts ND’s proposals instead of criticizing it, the country can benefit,” the main opposition party said in a statement.

“As for the rest, instead of manufacturing enemies or looking for accomplices on the (FYROM name) issue, Tsipras should finally realize that the damaging agreement he signed with (FYROM Premier Zoran) Zaev is rejected by the overwhelming majority of the Greek people,” the party added.
