Velopoulos calls for review of ‘green’ policy and growth policy

The president of the opposition Elliniki Lysi party, Kyriakos Velopoulos, asked for a review of green policy and growth policy, during the debate in Parliament on Wednesday concerning the devastating spate of wildfires in the country.

“How can wind turbines coexist with green forests, how can these things coexist and be put up in forests unless roads are opened? Therefore they cannot, on the basis of the Constitution, exist,” he said.

Regarding the Sponsors Fund, Velopoulos cited the previous bad experiences with the Molyviatis Fund after the 2007 fires, and advised Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis not to find himself in the same position as his predecessors “where millions were lost and not given to fire victims.”
