Visiting Israeli president awarded honorary doctorate by University of Piraeus

Israel will always stand at Greece’s side, visiting Israeli President Reuven Rivlin said on Wednesday as he accepted an honorary doctorate awarded to him by the University of Piraeus, during a ceremony held at the Eugenides Foundation in Athens.

“The Greek spirit will prevail and we will stand by your side forever, even after your ‘marathon’ has been successfully completed,” Rivlin said at the event attended by Greece’s political and military leadership.

Among those attending were Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias, Economy Minister Dimitri Papadimitriou, Shipping Minister Panagiotis Kouroumblis, Alternate Foreign Minister George Katrougalos, main opposition New Democracy MP Dora Bakoyannis and U.S. Ambassador in Athens Geoffrey Pyatt, among others.
