FinMin source: Washington Group meeting is not extraordinary, will discuss Eurozone matters

A meeting of the so-called Washington Group in Berlin on Friday is not extraordinary and will discuss economic issues affecting the Eurozone, and therefore Greece’s debt, a finance ministry source said on Tuesday evening, responding to a report in Germany’s Sueddeutsche Zeitung.

The same source said the Washington Group has been active for a long time and includes finance ministers from the Eurozone’s biggest countries (Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands) and the institutions.

According to the report, Eurozone’s finance ministers and officials from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the European Central bank (ECB) will meet to discuss Greek debt.
