We will take all the nessecary actions to protect public health, said Alternate Defence Minister Dimitris Vitsas speaking to SKAI TV on the possibility the army would be called in to help with the collection of garbage.
Vitsas clarified that the government will wait until Thursday afternoon when the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Sanitation Workers is completed. “We wait for their decision. On the other hand, nobody can risk public health, nor should the union leadership punish the society in the name of their labour action,” he noted.
He said that the ministry will do nothing by itself adding the ministry is looking forward to a reasonable decision.
