Zhang and Papadimoulis agree on closer ties between EU Parliament, National People’s Congress

The Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China Zhang Dejiang and European Parliament Vice President Dimitris Papadimoulis agreed on the futher enhancement of relations between the European Parliament and Beijing during their meeting in the Chinese capital on Monday.

According to Xinhua news agency, Zhang expressed China’s support for European integration. He said the two sides should combine their development strategies, deepen their exchanges and cooperation and press for further progress in the building partnership relations for peace, growth, reforms and culture.

On his part, Papadimoulis expressed his satisfaction over the importance of EU-China relations, stating that bilateral friendship and cooperation is of vital importance for the world’s peace and growth. The European Parliament will promote dialogue with China’s National People’s Congress, with aim of reducing the differences and enhancing the mutual benefits and growth, he added
