The Greek energy and metals company METLEN will officially join the U.K.’s prestigious FTSE 100 index, just weeks after its debut on the London Stock Exchange. METLEN’s inclusion in the index of Britain’s largest listed companies will be effective from September 22nd.

In a social media post the company’s chairman and CEO Evangelos Mytilineos hailed the inclusion as a “new chapter” for the firm.

“This achievement reflects the confidence of international investors in our vision and our ability to generate sustainable growth worldwide” Mr. Mytilineos said.

The company, which listed in London on August 4th, secured its position with a market capitalization of approximately €6.71 billion.

It is the first Greek-headquartered company to join the index while trading in euros.
