A two-seater training aircraft crashed in the Tatoi air base, north of Athens, today October 8th.
According to early reports, the accident occurred moments after take-off when part of the aircraft’s wing detached and the plane fell to the ground. The incident happened during a scheduled maintenance flight, with two pilots on board.
Both were injured and taken to the 251 Air Force General Hospital in Athens. Their condition is currently unknown.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with the Hellenic Air Force leading the inquiry.
The aircraft, a P2002-JF, is a two-seat, single-engine, low-wing light plane used for the initial training of new cadets at the Hellenic Air Force Academy.
